NTP Business TeleClass
Let’s face it: building a private practice can be challenging. Unfortunately, being a great practitioner isn’t enough – you need to be able to run a business and market yourself, too.
Starting November 8th, for 10 weeks, I’ll be giving a group of NTPs the inside scoop and a detailed toolkit for how to launch your practice, bring in a steady stream of clients, and grow your business in a way that’s authentic, totally non-salesy, and most importantly: that works.
Here’s some feedback from students in earlier classes:
My business is blowing up with this new program of yours that I have implemented. It is amazing! It is working so well that all of a sudden I am super busy, and almost overwhelmed with the amount of clients I now have. Thank goodness you have procedures laid out for us.
THANK YOU!!! I am so thrilled to be a part of this & getting your pearls of wisdom!!! I can’t rave enough about what you are doing & how you have helped me specifically in just 1 call! I have already learned so much from you!
You have NO idea how beneficial these classes have been! We’re so pumped up after each class!
It is worth every penny for the first 25 mins!
Here’s what we’ll be covering in the 10 weeks:
- Week 1: Business basics, with an introduction to the business model, articulating the vision for your business, and basic goal-setting. This is a nuts and bolts class. You’ll get a clear sense of where you’re headed, and the first steps to make sure you’re setting things up correctly right from the start.
- Week 2: Foundation of the business model part 1: the health consultation. We’ll go deep into the approach that helps you build long-term relationships with clients right from the beginning, so you can have even more impact with your clients and also a steadier, more reliable income stream.
- Week 3: Foundation of the business model part 2: working in programs. I’ll teach you how to close the sale (in a totally non-salesy way), how to structure your rates, how to schedule your work with clients over the duration of the program, and how to outline it all in a contract.
- Week 4: Getting organized: how to structure your work with clients. I’ll explain how to organize your work over the duration of the program. We’ll look at the role of the NTP as teacher and how to handle difficult clients.
- Week 5: Marketing part 1: communicating benefits, creating your ideal client profile, and determining how to find that ideal client. We’ll craft your elevator pitch and assess your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, so that we can identify the marketing strategy that’s the best fit for you.
- Week 6: Marketing part 2: establishing your online presence. We’ll go through the important things to consider in putting together your website, blogs and social marketing. For the newbie, this session will get you off to the right start. For those already web-savvy, you’ll get some good tips and a check-list to make sure you’ve got everything optimized.
- Week 7: Marketing part 3: E-newsletters and printed collateral – how to make them work for you. We’ll also cover networking and referral programs.
- Week 8: Marketing part 4: We’ll wrap up the marketing section with a basic start-up marketing plan. We’ll aslo cover how to manage and fill your sales pipeline.
- Week 9: Financials: It’s time to talk about money! This is a business after all and without money, you’ve got no business. We’ll look at the all-important financial mindset, we’ll set targets (getting really specific), and we’ll get you set up with a budget. We’ll also look at tracking tools and the really fun part of financial management: receiving the money and managing it once you have it.
- Week 10: Our last class! This week we’ll go beyond the confines of your private practice to reaching people in groups: workshops, seminars, group coaching, and public speaking. You’ll also learn how to renew clients, and we’ll set aside some time at the end for questions and a summary of what we learned in the class.
All classes are done by phone, on Tuesday nights from 5:30-7:00pm Pacific time. If that time doesn’t work for you – no worries! I’m recording them all and will send out a link to the recording the day after the call. I make myself available via email for questions throughout the class, and if you’ve got a question but can’t make the call live, email it to me and I’ll make sure it gets air time.
There is homework. It’s up to you to do it, but I highly recommend it. As a bonus, if you send it to me, I’ll give you feedback on it. But that means you’ve got to do it! I’ve structured this class so that if you do all the homework each week, by the time the class ends, you’ll be up and running, and well on your way to a thriving, successful practice.
If this sounds like your thing, then let’s do it! As long as you are studying to become an NTP or are a current practitioner, you’re eligible for this class.
Cost is $450 for the series.
Still have questions? Email me.

November 16th start date.
Reading the past posts I can assume we do not have to be available on Tuesday night, we will have access to recordings. Correct? Tuesday night would be hit or miss for me. What is the class schedule? weekly, biweekly, monthly? Also, we are able to email you with any questions we may have during the course? Thanks
Hi Alyce,
Yes you will certainly have access to recordings if you’re not able to make the call live (even if you are, they can be great review). And yes you have unlimited email to me between calls. It’s every Tuesday for 10 weeks, with the exception of December 28th as I’m taking that week for holidays. It ends January 25th. Feel free to email me with questions.
Margaret
Hi Margaret, I will be signing up in the next few days!! thanks so much, looing forward to it!! Trish
looking!! sorry!!
Wonderful!
I would love to take the course-but the 5:30 Pacific time means it doesn’t start for us on the East coast until 9:30- how much am I going to be able to get out of it by just listening to recordings?? I get up a 4 am, and being alert enough to learn anything STARTING at 9:30 really would be hard for me. Ever think about a weekend afternoon class? That would be easier on East coasters like myself. I am still thinking about taking it- but am looking into more details first. Thanks,Susan Roth
Hi Susan,
I picked the 5:30pm Pacific time (it’s actually 8:30pm Eastern) because a lot of people who take the class have day jobs and this way it’s in the evening for everyone. I had several people in the last round only listen to the recordings and I think they got a lot out of it, too. If they had questions, they just emailed them to me and I’d either answer via email if it had already been addressed, or answered it on the next call so everyone could benefit.
Let me know if you have more questions!
Margaret
Margaret, will we be receiving a binder with this information or are we just taking notes? I have trouble taking notes and getting all the main points.
Kathy, great question. The Monday before each class I send out a reminder along with a set of handouts for Tuesday’s class. The day following the class I send out a second email with a link to the recording. So no binder, per se, but you’re more than welcome to print out the handouts, which include both notes as well as templates and tools we refer to in class.
I just signed up for the July 5 teleclass. I’ve heard wonderful things so am very excited. Thanks for making the recordings available as it is always hard to make every Tuesday.
Hi Dana! I’m delighted you’ll be joining us! warmly, Margaret
Hi Margaret,
I intended to be part of your July class but family issues prevented the possibility. Do you know when your next class might be? I am still very interested in participating. Am off to purchase your book now! Very excited to see it.
Barb Bukovnik
Hi Barb,
Next class is scheduled for November, 2011 – firm dates haven’t been set yet, but I’ll be doing that in the next couple of weeks. Would love to have you with us! And enjoy the book! I’m keen to hear what you think of it.
Be well,
Margaret
I’m too late and too cash-strapped for the current session. When will the next one be?
Hi Dan, Not sure when the next one will be but likely in 2012 sometime. Will depend on my schedule. I”ll put you on the list and will let you know as soon as we’ve set new dates. Margaret
Interested in your 10 week program. I graduate in June. Live to know when your next program will begin.
Thank you,
Patti Child
